Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
Steptide (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an iOS app published by Sharif Khaleel that helps people track their daily activity and compete with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, the third parties we rely on, and the rights you have over your information.
By creating a Steptide account, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Data we collect
- Account info. Your email address and the display name you choose when signing up.
- Activity data from Apple Health. Steps, distance, active energy (calories), and exercise minutes — read-only from HealthKit, only with your explicit per-type permission.
- Profile. Optional height, weight, and sex (used for calorie calibration), and an optional profile photo.
- Group membership. The groups you join, the unique join codes you’ve used, and your aggregated step totals as displayed on shared leaderboards.
- Subscription state. Whether you have an active Pro subscription, managed through Apple and RevenueCat. We never receive your payment details.
2. What we do with it
- Display your activity on your personal dashboard.
- Aggregate your steps with other members of groups you’ve joined so the daily and weekly leaderboards can rank you. Other members of your groups can see your display name and daily step total.
- Award milestones and streaks based on your activity history.
- Process your subscription via RevenueCat and the Apple App Store.
3. What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share data with advertisers.
- We do not write data back to Apple Health.
- We do not see your password — authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
- We do not store payment information — that is handled by Apple.
4. Third-party services
- Supabase — stores your account and activity records on our behalf.
- Apple HealthKit— the source of your activity data; you grant permission per data type and can revoke it any time in iOS Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices.
- RevenueCat — manages your subscription state and entitlement.
- Apple App Store — processes all payments.
5. Your rights
- Delete your account.In-app via Profile › Account Details › Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, profile, activity history, milestones, group memberships, and any groups you created.
- Export your data. Apple Health is the system of record for your activity data; you can export it directly from the Health app on iOS.
- Contact us. Email support@steptide.app with any privacy questions or requests.
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.
7. Children
Steptide is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.
8. International users
Steptide is operated from the United States. By using the app, you consent to your data being processed in the United States, where our infrastructure providers (Supabase, RevenueCat) host data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via an in-app notification before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
